Steam & Micro-Mist Therapy

Steam therapy surrounds your scalp and hair with fine, warm mist — most famously from Takara Belmont's Spa Mist II, part of the Yume system. Takara Belmont says the mist heats to just 40–50 degrees, opens the cuticle and allows treatments to be absorbed more effectively while a mask or conditioner sits.

What happens

  1. You recline while a steamer, micro-mist hood or cap is positioned over your head.
  2. Fine warm mist envelops the scalp and hair, softening buildup and warming the treatment product.
  3. A mask, conditioner or serum usually sits during the steam block, so the two steps work together.
  4. The mist stops, the product is worked in or rinsed, and the ritual moves to the rinse and massage steps.

Core or add-on?

Core in signature tiers at most dedicated studios, where it appears as 'hydro steam' or 'hydration steam'. At some studios it is a paid add-on on shorter tiers and included on the longest tier.

Typical price & duration

Galaxy Head Spa charges a $15 steam add-on on its 30- and 60-minute packages and includes steam in its 90-minute package. Cosset includes steam across its tiers. Menus time steam as part of the mask/treatment block rather than separately.
